| Oswald's Bear Ranch Upper Michigan Attractions North of Newberry, MI South of Tahquamenon Falls and Paradise, MI Located just 20 minutes south of Tahquamenon Falls, or from Newberry go 4 miles north on M-123 towards Tahquamenon Falls. Turn left at 4 Mile Corner (Deer Park Rd., Muskallonge Lake, H-37 H-407). Then it's 4 1/2 more miles to the ranch. Watch for the Oswald's Bear Ranch signs. We welcome groups and tour busses. | Bear Facts: Although most are black in color; they can be white, whitish-blue, creamy -white, cinnamon, chocolate, or reddish brown. Black bears can climb trees, swim, and travel 25-35 miles per hour at short stretches. They are an average weight of 300-400 pounds as adults. Tyson was believed to weigh about 1,000 lbs prior to going into hibernation during the winter. The following year he died in the spring at a certified weight of 880 lbs. He was believed to be the largest black bear in the U.S. and possibly the world. Free Admission for Active Military |
